Hola! Hallo!
We are Bryant and Anke, a Mexican-Belgian combo, and we would love to welcome you into our home: a small slice of paradise called Whale Tales hostel. Our family run hostel is located in San José del Cabo, the artsy half of the Los Cabos duo where desert meets the sea and the Pacific Ocean meets the aquarium of the world. Pretty awesome place if you ask us!
Why did we start a hostel?
When meeting, we discovered that both of us had always dreamed of opening up our own hostel! Funnily how things work out sometimes, won’t you think? With Bryant, born with a lust for adventure and forever trying out new small business concepts in Mexico City & Anke, polyglot and world-traveler with a decade of experience in the hospitality business, a match was made in heaven. According to us, at least.
Los Cabos & la Baja has so much more to offer besides the luxurious-exclusive type of tourism that’s marketed to us: it has amazing beaches, a diverse cultural history, incredible nature and a ton of outdoor experiences. Plus on top of that, a serious lack of quality budget accommodation. All this combined, we quickly made up our minds and the idea of Whale Tales hostel saw the light of day.
What is Whale Tales Hostel?
Whale Tales hostel is not only our home in San José del Cabo, but also yours! For us, traveling means discovering new things, whether it be places, languages, skills or cultures. It means meeting people and making friends, sharing experiences and caring for the places you visit along the way.
We aim for Whale Tale hostel to be a place where backpackers, budget travelers, solo-travelers, adventurous couples or just anyone who is eager to explore Baja California Sur finds a base, a sense of community, a home away from home. Our hostel hopes to be an accessible meeting place for people from different cultures, who have fun exploring the area and sharing experiences, while being conscious visitors in Baja California Sur and beyond.
Together with you, we strive for a Baja full with great vibes, with a respect for the local way of life and the rhythm of nature, a Baja to nurture and cherish, where you always find a home away from home in Whale Tales hostel. See you soon?
